Spalted beech coffee table with drawer

This single slab spalted beech coffee table top has the natural live edge which tapers forwards into a point, joining onto the square sharp edges for a dramatic contrast. The live edge sycamore legs and rails give the table a heavy dominant presence in the room whilst also concealing the drawer.  Spalted beech is a wonderful material although care must be taken to ensure the spalt does not go too extreme and deteriorate the quality of the timber. Spalting is caused when fungi get into the wood leaving behind dark swirling lined patterns.

Coffee table measures 120x50x45cm, finished in Danish oil.
